FileZilla is a free File Transport Protocol (FTP) portable application that allows you to send and receive files from your AWC network file areas. I suggest you use the portable version as you do not have administrative rights to do a traditional install on AWC computers. I also suggest you create a "Program Files" folder in "My Documents" for portable applications instillations. You can also install on a flash drive making FileZilla "portable."

Download Portable Filezilla at http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/filezilla_portable.

Setup your AWC FileZilla account (faculty/staff example is below)

  1. Select File Menu => "Site manager." or press the Site Manager toolbar button as shown to the right.
  2. Create a new site and give the site a name.
  3. Your host depends on your AWC affiliation
    • Students use "toro.azwestern.edu"
    • Faculty/Staff use the "virgil.azwestern.edu"
  4. Use port 22
  5. Server type is "SFTP using "SSH2"
  6. The logon type is normal.
  7. Use your AWC password and userid (not my userid which is shown).

Once you are connected, you will be able to copy your files back and forth from your local computer and your network drives by simply clicking on them and dragging. See more discussion of file locations at your AWC file areas
