About Me

  • I was raised in Southeast Alaska in a small island community.
  • I have fished commercially (Gulf of Alaska) and worked in the seafood processing industry for about half of my adult life.
  • I like tie dye, lava lamps, Bob Dylan, the Rolling Stones, downtown Chicago and the art institute, tiramisu and most seafood.
  • I don't like cold weather, rude drivers, waiting in line or sushi.
  • I enjoy making pottery and doing metal sculpture (thanks to the welding program here at AWC), and water gardening.
  • I like to read, particularly about high altitude mountain climbing, whole brain learning, systems thinking and anything by Tom Robbins.
  • I have learned lessons from my students. I think teaching in a community college is one of the best jobs there is.
